Cake and bakes lovers are happy to try different flavors of cakes with delicate frosting. Therefore I brought you a coffee cake recipe with coffee-flavored frosting with specific baking tips. Sure enough, you can make this cake for your tea time table, special home parties and etc. Let’s jump to the ingredient list and then talk.


For cake

  • 200g butter
  • 4 free size eggs
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 tbs vanilla extraction
  • flour 200g
  • 3 tbs coffee powder (or 2 tbs instant coffee)
  • 1 tbs baking powder

Coffee Icing for Coffee Cake Recipe

  • 125g icing butter or butter
  • 2 tbs instant coffee
  • 250g icing sugar
  • 2 tbs boiling water


  • Take your coffee powder into a smaller container and add 1 tbs of sugar and add some boiling water and keep to braise and cool.
  • Tip 1: Better to use sugar like powder. You can grind it.
  • Prepare your cake container by applying the parchment paper.
  • Add your baking powder into the flour and sift well.
  • preheat the oven 175°C or 347°F.
  • Separate the eggs into yolk and white.
  • Use the egg white to beat by using a beater or you can do by yourself
  • Tip 2: Before start to beat, make sure to drain the water both beat and cake mixing container. Otherwise egg white will not make foam.
  • No need to beat much. we only need 1 cup of egg foam and put the foam cup aside.
  • Take your powdered sugar and butter to mix well.
  • Add the egg yolk one by one to the cake batter and beat until all the ingredients combine together plus sugar melt.
  • Meanwhile, add your vanilla extraction and rest of egg white (no the foam cup).
  • Take your coffee mix and add one tbs into the batter and beat well.
  • Tip 3: Before using the coffer mixture make sure to colander.
  • Remove your beater and use a wooden spoon. Meanwhile, add flour little by little.
  • Make sure to follow the baking tips I previously mentioned in my chocolate cake recipe article.
  • Now add, half of the foam of egg white and mix them well. Agin adds the other half.
  • Foam brings much softness. Therefore no need to use baking soda.
  • Put your batter into the tray and tap the tray once or twice and put it into the oven.
  • Use the middle rack and let to bake 40 mins.
  • After 35 mins elapsed, check your cake by using a toothpick and check it. If the toothpick is clean, your cake is baked well.
  • Take out the cake the oven and put it carefully on a cooling rack.
  • (Be careful the cake is soft therefore it will be brake if not.)
  • For the icing, we only use instant coffee. But use only 1 tbs for solvent first.
  • Tip 4: If you put much water, then the icing’s consistency will less and the try to melt. Therefor use as much as a little bit of water for the solvent. Use instant coffee because it needs less water.
  • Here we use icing butter. Therefore you need to cream the butter well.
  • When the butter turns into cream, add icing sugar bit by bit and mix the icing mixture well.
  • After the icing sugar mixed well add, coffee liquid little by little and mix the icing well.
  • Meanwhile, the cake is cool well.
  • To icing, the cake, use the downside up and stick the cake to the tray by using a bit of icing.
  • Now you can icing the cake as much as thickness according to your desire.
  • You can use the specula to apply the icing.
  • If you like, you can garnish the cake by using melted dark chocolates.
  • Tip 5: Use the double boil method to melt the chocolate.
  • Let to cool the cake and you can serve your fresh coffee cake with coffee frosting.
