Sri Lankan Traditional Milk Rice(Kiribath)


  • 500g white rice
  • 3 cups of coconut milk
  • salt as your taste


  • Wash your rice well and cook them well.
  • After cooked add coconut milk in to the rice and rest in 5 min.
  • Add some salt as your taste.
  • Sri Lankan people use banana leave to lay cooked rice.(its not essential. But its brings grate smell and also fine taste)
  • You can cut it in cube shape or diamond shape

     And Also you can add an extra taster called as “Sambol (Lunu Miris)”.


  • 2 tbs red chilli.
  • 1/2 of  B’onion
  • 1 tbs Maldive fish (powder etc)
  • 1/2 tbs pepper
  • salt as your taste
  • lemon drops(juice) as your taste


  • Chop B’onions in small pieces and add red chilli,pepper,salt and also Maldive fish powder or pieces.
  • By using wooden mortar(“Wangediya”)

  • finally add some lemon drops.
  • serve immediately.
